Your Arctic day starts with a smooth transfer from Rovaniemi, heading into the quiet backwoods where local mushers Jussi and Inka run their private family kennel.

Unlike large-scale tourist hubs, this intimate home is built around a passionate long-distance race team. Jussi and Inka share their daily lives with their endurance huskies, devoting their season to harsh weather training and competitive sled racing.

On this tour, guests relax in the passenger seat while a seasoned musher handles the sled and reins. This leaves you completely free to take in the impressive athleticism of the pack and absorb the true spirit of sled dog racing.

When winter transforms the landscape into a snowy wonderland, the dogs are in their absolute element, eager to pull across frozen trails.

Stepping onto the kennel grounds, the eager anticipation of these high-performance athletes is immediately contagious – and as soon as the anchor drops, you will witness their remarkable strength firsthand.

Bundle up warmly in the sled for a breathtaking 5 km trail leading through winter-bound pine forests and over the frozen ice of the Ounasjoki river. With the driver focusing on steering, your hands remain free to capture stunning photos and videos along the way.

You will have endless opportunities to bond with the pack, capture memories on camera, and gain rare insights into the year-round routine of competitive dog sledding.

To wrap up the outing, gather inside around a crackling campfire to warm up with hot drinks, cookies, and great conversation in the tranquility of the North.

• Guided transfer to the husky kennel: Meet your guide and travel by car to the husky camp located in northern Rovaniemi.
• Meet the racing pack: Meet the Alaskan Huskies and learn about their individual personalities, daily life and role within the team.
• Meet the mushers: Learn about life with the pack, training, long-distance racing and what it takes to keep a racing team fit and happy.
• 5 km husky sled ride: Settle into the sled and enjoy approximately 15 minutes of riding while the professional musher drives the team. The route takes you through the snowy Lapland forest and, when conditions allow, onto the frozen river.
• Time with the dogs: After the ride, spend time with the huskies, pet them, take photographs and experience the atmosphere of the kennel.
• Warm drinks by the fire: Warm up with a hot drink and biscuits while enjoying the peaceful winter surroundings and hearing more stories about the dogs.
• Return transfer: Your guide will drive the small group back after the experience.

• Guests do not drive the sled. The team is driven by an experienced professional musher.
• Winter clothing is not included. Please dress appropriately for Arctic winter conditions and bring warm gloves, socks and suitable footwear. You can add winter clothing package to your experience.
• The dogs' wellbeing always comes first: The dogs are Alaskan Huskies trained for long-distance sled dog racing and the ride takes place in a genuine training environment. The route and duration may be adjusted when necessary according to weather, snow or trail conditions.
• Booking & confirmation: This experience is operated directly with the husky kennel and is subject to kennel availability. Your booking is a request rather than an immediate confirmation. After booking, we will check availability directly with the kennel and send you a confirmation as soon as the visit has been confirmed.
