Located on the shores of Lake Norvajärvi, just 18 kilometers from the center of Rovaniemi, lies a place that feels like a breath of fresh air the moment you arrive. Surrounded by a beautiful pine forest, LakeLodge Kiehinen is a warm and inviting haven where serene lake views, quiet nature, and thoughtful details come together. At the heart of it all is the wonderful Jutta and her team—working with genuine passion, endless love, and a strong vision to create a place where they themselves would love to spend time.

At Kiehinen, it is immediately clear that every single detail has been carefully considered. Nothing feels forced or out of place; everything blends naturally into the surrounding wilderness. Staying here feels a bit like stepping straight onto the lake shore in your favorite wool socks.

Kiehinen serves as the home for many of our experiences, including our floating activities, as well as our traditional sauna experiences paired with ice swimming and an outdoor jacuzzi. The Kota dining experiences we have designed for Kiehinen are a chapter of their own: warm, unforgettable culinary moments featuring ingredients chosen with the exact same care as everything else around you.

The absolute best thing about Kiehinen, however, is its people. It is clear in everything they do that Jutta and her team truly love being by this lake and put their whole hearts into their work. Kiehinen has been built with love, but also with great dedication—and it shines through in the atmosphere, the service, and the smallest of details.

The Mushing Couple

We are Jussi and Inka, living with our dogs in the forests of northern Rovaniemi, just outside the small village of Meltaus. Huskies first became part of our lives in 2017, and since then they have shaped much of the way we live.

For us, huskies are much more than working dogs. They are family, training partners and racing companions. We take part in long-distance sled dog races and spend much of our time outdoors with our pack. Through our small-scale husky experiences, we love sharing a glimpse of this life with our guests.

Our pack is made up of Alaskan Huskies – strong, joyful and incredibly athletic dogs. Every dog has its own personality, strengths and place within the team. Their wellbeing comes first, and we want them to enjoy what they are born to do: run, work, explore and live a happy life as part of the pack.

Life here in Finnish Lapland is simple and close to nature. Alongside the dogs, our days are filled with forests, fishing, hiking, gardening and making things with our own hands. The seasons change, the landscape transforms, but the pack is always there.

Annelin Yrtit & Karkit – A Taste of Pure Arctic Nature

Annelin Yrtit & Karkit began back in the 1990s out of Anneli’s deep love for wild herbs. Today, she is joined by Mea, and together with Anneli’s husband helping wherever needed, they run this small family business surrounded by nature and the rhythm of the changing seasons.

For them, nature is far more than just a source of ingredients — it is a way of life. Their year is guided by Lapland’s short yet light-filled growing season, from the very first sprouts and spring blossoms to the harvesting of late summer. They gather and cultivate the treasures of Arctic nature with immense passion, and that genuine joy shines through everything they do.

Whether at their farm in Tapionkylä or their workshop in Pöykkölä, Rovaniemi, there is a truly magical atmosphere in the air. You can almost see a hint of fairy sparkle in Anneli’s and Mea's eyes as they move among the herbs, edible flowers, and crops — celebrating whatever gifts the Lapland wilderness has to offer at any given moment.

At Soul of Lapland, we proudly use their handpicked products as raw ingredients in our own experiences. We want to bring our guests a real, authentic taste of Lapland — crafted with the very same love and magic that goes into every leaf and flower they harvest.
