Step into the cozy warmth of a historic winter home in the peaceful arctic countryside

When winter settles over Lapland, life slows down to its most peaceful rhythm. This intimate home visit invites you to step inside a historic countryside house in Lehtojärvi village, where crackling wood heat, rich aromas of traditional cooking, and genuine northern hospitality create a sanctuary from the frosty arctic air.

Instead of a commercial restaurant or tourist venue, you are welcomed as an honored guest into an authentic family home passed down through generations. Here, surrounded by snow-draped forests and quiet rural landscapes, you will experience the heart of Finnish winter living: warmth, shared meals, and timeless storytelling.

Start time: 12:00 PM

Duration: 3 hours

Price: 168 € / guest (minimum 2 guests)

Small group setting: Maximum 8 guests for an intimate, personal atmosphere.

Smaller or larger groups: Contact us for a tailored offer.

Your journey begins with a comfortable transfer from Rovaniemi city center, winding through snowy rural roads into the quiet countryside. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by Rosa and her grandfather, who will invite you inside their warm wooden home—a place filled with history, resilience, and stories from old village life.

As winter twilight paints the sky outside, the house comes alive with the comforting scent of freshly baked pastries and slow-cooked winter food. You are invited to sit by the oven, take part in preparing classic Finnish comfort dishes using traditional recipes, or simply unwind and listen to stories about how people thrived through northern winters past and present.

The afternoon revolves around togetherness. Gather around the heavy wooden table to enjoy a hearty, homemade lunch, followed by freshly brewed coffee and a sweet oven-baked dessert. This is a moment to pause, breathe deeply, and feel the true essence of Lappish winter hospitality.
