As autumn arrives in Rovaniemi, the forests glow with vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold before gradually giving way to the deep blue evenings of Arctic autumn. This is one of the most beautiful—and least crowded—times to experience Finnish Lapland.

Start time: 19:30

Duration: 4,5h

Price: From €179/person (minimum 4 guests)

Small group or solo traveler: Contact us for a tailored option and special price — no need to pay double.

Traditional Finnish sauna, local flavours and Northern Lightsts

Travel by boat through the tranquil waterways of the Ounasjoki River to a private island surrounded by untouched nature. Relax in a traditional wood-heated sauna, enjoy a carefully prepared three-course dinner featuring local ingredients, and spend the evening by the fire while watching the northern sky for the first signs of the Aurora Borealis.

Far away from city lights, the island provides an exceptional setting for experiencing the peaceful atmosphere of Lapland's autumn nights.

Menu

Starter

Lapland berry and herb smoothie

Main Course

Potato wedges served with slow-braised reindeer.

Vegetarian option: A dish made with locally foraged mushrooms.

Dessert

Homemade blueberry pie served with coffee or tea.

Campfire Treat

Traditional pancakes cooked over an open fire, served with Lapland berry jam.

The evening begins with time to unwind in a traditional Finnish wood-heated sauna overlooking the river. Depending on the weather, you can cool off with a refreshing dip in the crisp Arctic water—a tradition Finns have enjoyed for generations.

After the sauna, a three-course dinner is served, celebrating local ingredients and the flavours of Lapland. Enjoy your meal in a relaxed island setting before gathering around the fire inside a traditional riverside kota for dessert, coffee, and stories about local life, Finnish sauna traditions, and the Northern Lights.

As darkness gradually settles over the river, keep your eyes on the northern sky. Autumn marks the beginning of the Aurora season in Lapland, and on clear evenings the island offers excellent opportunities to witness the Northern Lights dancing above the surrounding wilderness.

Whether or not the Aurora appears, the silence of the river, the warmth of the sauna, and the atmosphere of the Arctic autumn create an unforgettable evening in Finnish Lapland and ideal for photographing.

Finally, return to Rovaniemi by boat beneath the stars, with the possibility of the Aurora reflecting across the calm river before winter ice arrives.
