Autumn transforms Finnish Lapland into a landscape unlike any other. From late August through early October, the forests surrounding Rovaniemi burst into brilliant shades of gold, crimson, and orange—a phenomenon Finns call Ruska.

Travel by boat through the quiet waterways of the Ounasjoki Archipelago to a hidden private island, where you'll discover one of the region's most photogenic autumn landscapes. Walk along colourful riverbanks, photograph untouched Arctic scenery, relax in a traditional Finnish sauna, and enjoy a carefully prepared three-course lunch inspired by local Lapland ingredients.

During autumn, the landscape becomes a living canvas. Birch trees shimmer in golden yellow, rowan trees glow deep red, and the surrounding forests reflect across the calm river, creating one of the most beautiful photography locations in Finnish Lapland.

Upon arriving at the private island, your guide will lead a relaxed walk through the island's trails and sandy riverbanks, introducing the unique colours, landscapes, and seasonal nature that define Arctic autumn. Along the way there are plenty of opportunities to capture photographs while learning about Lapland's changing seasons and local traditions.

After exploring the island, unwind in a traditional Finnish wood-heated sauna overlooking the river. Brave guests may cool off with a refreshing dip in the crisp autumn water before returning to the warmth of the sauna.

The experience concludes with a three-course lunch celebrating the flavours of Lapland, served in a peaceful island setting surrounded by the colours of Ruska.
