Your journey begins with a comfortable drive with your guide from Rovaniemi to the peaceful forests of northern Lapland, where you will meet Jussi and Inka – the mushing couple – and their Alaskan Huskies.

This small-scale husky kennel is home to a dedicated racing team. Jussi and Inka live with their dogs and take part in long-distance sled dog races, spending much of their time training and working with the pack.

This is not a husky ride where guests take turns driving the sled. Here, you are the passenger – and the professional musher does the driving. Your experience is all about enjoying the incredible energy of the dogs, learning about their lives and feeling the genuine excitement of a racing team.

In autumn, when the forests are still free of snow, the dogs train by pulling a wheeled sled through the beautiful Lapland landscape.

Your experience

Once you arrive at the husky camp you may quickly notice that these are athletic working dogs with plenty of energy – and when the team takes off, you will experience the real power and speed of a trained racing pack.

Sit comfortably in the sled and enjoy approximately 3 km of driving through the autumn forest, while an experienced musher controls the team – With your hands left free to photograph and video the experience.

Before and after the ride, there is plenty of time to meet the dogs, hear their stories and learn what everyday life with a racing pack is really like.

You will also have time to enjoy a warm drink by the campfire and take in the peaceful surroundings and to take photographs.
