Paddle into the Arctic night. Autumn in Lapland is a season of quiet transformation. The forests glow with brilliant shades of gold and crimson, the rivers become mirror-like, and the first dark evenings return—bringing with them the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.

This small-group canoe adventure invites you to experience all of it from the water.

Rather than chasing the Aurora by road, you'll gently paddle through the peaceful river archipelago surrounding Rovaniemi, where nature sets the pace and every moment feels unhurried.

Start time: 19:30

Duration: 3,5h

Price: From €182/person (minimum 2 guests)

Small group or solo traveler: Contact us for a tailored option and special price — no need to pay double.

Your evening begins with a short introduction to paddling before launching onto calm Arctic waters. As you glide quietly between forested islands and winding river channels, you'll witness Lapland changing from the warm colours of sunset into the deep blue tones of Arctic twilight.

With very little light pollution, the river offers an exceptional setting for observing the night sky. Halfway through the journey, you'll arrive at our secluded private island. Here, a traditional Finnish log cabin and a warm campfire welcome you. Relax beside the river while enjoying local snacks and hot drinks served from a traditional wooden kuksa.

Your guide shares stories about Lapland's nature, local traditions, the Ruska season, and the science and legends surrounding the Aurora Borealis. Away from busy tourist locations, you'll experience the silence that makes Finnish Lapland so special. As darkness settles across the river, keep your eyes on the northern horizon.

When solar activity and weather conditions align, the Aurora Borealis may begin dancing across the sky, often reflecting beautifully on the calm water surrounding the island. Even on evenings without visible Aurora, countless stars, peaceful surroundings, and the gentle sounds of nature create an unforgettable Arctic atmosphere.
